Causes
1.When a tooth is badly decayed or severely infected. Swelling that may spread to other areas of face, neck, and head.
2.Bone loss around the tip of the root.
3.Drainage problem extending outward from the root. A hole can occur through the side of the tooth with drainage into the gums or through the cheek with drainage into the skin.
Symptoms:
1.severe tooth pain upon chewing or application of pressure.
2.discoloration of the tooth.
3.swelling and tenderness on surrounding gums.
4.Prolonged sensitivity to too hot or cold temperature.
Treatment
Root canal surgery
- performing dental X rays
- Administering Anaesthesia
- creating an opening and removing the dental pulp
- medicating the opening.
- sealing the tooth.
Restoring the Tooth Crowns
After root canal treatment, restore the tooth with metal or ceramic crowns.
Maintenance (Post dental care) :
- brushing twice daily
- Flossing
- gargling after every meal
- a regular dental check-up once in 3 months.
